The Heart Brain Summit, hosted by the Bakken Heart-Brain Institute at Cleveland Clinic, each year awards a junior investigator with the BHBI Young Investigator Award.
The 2008 BHBI Young Investigator Award recipient is Rebecca O'Dwyer, MD, a research fellow in the Epilepsy Laboratory of Dr. Imad Najm IN THE Neurological Institute at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. O'Dwyer's winning abstract, entitled "Temporal lobe and sinus node: A case report provides evidence for bidirectional effects.", was announced at the Summit, chosen from four outstanding finalists' abstracts. Dr. O'Dwyer received her training in Ireland and Germany, where she obtained her doctorate in Medicine at Ludwig-Maximillian University. She has been involved in epilepsy research throughout her training and was previously recognized as a Young Investigator Award winner by the International Epilepsy Congress.This competition is open to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, fellows and junior faculty within two years of their first appointment.
The Heart-Brain Summit is an annual CME course sponsored to date by the Bakken Heart Brain Institute at Cleveland Clinic, in cooperation with the Society for Heart Brain Medicine. The summit provides an opportunity for physicians and scientists to share and discuss the most advanced research, education and patient care intelligence on connections/interactions of the cardiovascular and nervous systems.
The 2009 Heart Brain Summit will commence October 15 and 16 in Chicago, llinois.
